Man admits sex offences against young males at summer camp
An individual who spiked treats with sedative and provided them to children at a youth camp in the area has confessed to sexual offenses against two children both nine and ten years old.
The defendant was taken into custody after eight youngsters and a grown-up experienced illness at Stathern Lodge in the summer month.
The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, pleaded guilty to a series of 17 offences when he appeared at the judicial center on the end of the week.
Yet, he disputed one of the sexual offences he was charged with, which was against a young boy.
The defendant was remanded in custody ahead of a additional proceeding on 28 November.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, presenting evidence, described the criminal behavior to the legal proceedings.
She explained his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a summer program which he operated.
The defendant engaged in a "treat game" with the youngsters, the prosecutor explained, in which he would access the children's bedrooms when they were preparing to sleep and ask them to ingest treats "rapidly".
She told the court the defendant had engaged in this activity with the children "for many years", and children had previously fallen ill the subsequent day.
She stated the man had been able to explain this for many years as the children being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepchild had concerns in July 2025.
The prosecutor stated further: "In the summer" his family member had suspicions about the situation, justifiably.
"They decided to examine in the individual's items."
The legal counsel explained items including baby oil, petroleum jelly and injection devices were discovered, and his family member alerted the police about his suspicions.
She explained the man continued to engage in the "treat game" with six children that time - July 26th - and they were all sick the subsequent day.
"Law enforcement" had not gone out by that time," she continued.
The oversight body, the investigative body, earlier informed that it was examining law enforcement's management of the events.
The prosecutor said the children were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so Ruben's stepson called the police again.
She said Ruben then played the "candy game" in a space of five youngsters.
